Available Incentives The most important part in determining the cost of your system is to factor in the current incentives. Unlike buying a car, it is not as simple as just looking up the current rebates. The incentives that are available not only vary by state, but they can vary by counties, too.
There are grants currently available that can pay for up to 25% of your expenditures. In addition, in some areas you can take advantage of programs that will enable you to to obtain renewable energy certificates. Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), also known as Green tags, Renewable Energy Credits, or Tradable Renewable Certificates (TRCs), are tradable environmental commodities which represent proof that 1 megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity you generated was renewable. The more you generate, the more you can earn.
